Venkit S. Iyer

Dr. Venkit S. Iyer was born in Palakkad District, Kerala State, in India. His parents emphasized the value of education. This enabled him to achieve a higher education and subsequent admission to medical college.

After completing his medical degree, he did his post-graduation in surgery. Immediately afterwards he migrated to the United States of America for higher education and training in surgery. After completing internship and residency in New York, he started working at the same hospital as a full time teaching faculty member in the department of surgery.

After a year of work and teaching at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, New York, he decided to move to Florida to start a consulting private practice in general and vascular surgery. For the next 30 years he practiced surgery at the same location in Palm Harbor, Florida and subsequently retired. Since then, he participated in various medical missions and other charitable work.  

Dr. Venkit S. Iyer is a board certified surgeon, Fellow of American College of Surgeons (FACS), Fellow of Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCS-C), and Fellow of International College of Surgeons (FICS), and holds a Master’s degree (MS) in surgery. He has held many leadership positions, teaching positions, and given many talks and lectures in various forums.

Dr. Iyer has also written numerous articles in various journals and magazines. His hobbies include tennis, golf, reading and writing.
